Hibernia oil platform, Newfoundland

Building the world’s heaviest oil production platform for Newfoundland’s offshore Hibernia oil fields was a massive undertaking for Canada’s Heavy Industrial Construction sector. Completed in 1997, the construction project was the largest in North America for most of the early 1990s. The engineering alone took 2 million work hours.
