The 1.2 million-tonne platform was built using 165,000 cubic metres of concrete reinforced with 85, 000 tonnes of steel. It is the first platform built for extreme northern service and can survive a collision with a 6-million tonne iceberg moving at 1.35 metres per second. A 6-million tonne iceberg is expected every 10,000 years.

The platform is 106 metres in diameter and 224 metres tall from its underwater base to the top of its deck. It has an oil storage capacity of 1.3 million barrels. The topside has living space for 280 people and has seven structures including a helicopter landing deck, lifeboat stations, and drilling modules.
