Construction is one of Canada’s largest industries, employing one out of 16 workers and tallying 12 percent of our Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Construction work falls into four general categories:
- New-Home Building and Renovation refers to the construction or remodeling and renovation of single-family and multi-family residential buildings.
- Heavy Industrial refers to the construction of factories, such as cement, automotive or power plants.
- Institutional and Commercial refers to building stores, offices and schools plus related structures such as stadiums, grain elevators, and indoor swimming pools.
- Civil Engineering refers to projects such as highways, dams, water and sewer lines, power and communication lines, and bridges.
